Graduation Rates Leadership Team
In 2014, the Saskatchewan Ministry of Education alongside directors of Saskatchewan school divisions, representatives from First Nations and Métis education authorities selected improving provincial grad rates as a priority in the Education Sector Strategic Plan (ESSP).
The ESSP provides a unified approach to education in order to meet the needs of all students. It also aims to improve education outcomes as identified in the Saskatchewan Plan for Growth. The goal is to have the Saskatchewan graduation rate at 85% by 2020.
After the initial year of focus on improving graduation rates in the province, overall rates remain f l at. At its current trajectory, the province will not achieve its goal of 85% by the year 2020.
The Graduation Rates Leadership Team was formed to examine the problem, start conversations and share information amongst the divisions and identify possible solutions to help increase the provincial graduation rate.
Graduation Rates Leadership Team:
There was an Improving Graduation Rates Symposium held in Moose Jaw on September 12-13, 2016. Representatives who are passionate about improving graduation rates volunteered to be a part of this official committee. To see members of this committee, please click here.
